OK, as you probably know I normally caution against going with the cheapest option:  quality, reliability, talent, equipment, long-life albums etc.
 
But, this situation is a little different, you’ve got someone trying to get into the wedding market and hence offering very low price (or even free).   They have been up-front about it – which is a plus in my opinion, not all newbies will tell you.

Copyright – the right to produce copies – sounds straight forward and it sort of it is, but nevertheless it is also a bit mis-understood by couples and photographers.
 
So, here’s the simple version:
 
COPYRIGHT ALWAYS BELONGS TO THE PHOTOGRAPHER
 
Except under special circumstances, when the photographer takes a photograph the copyright automatically belongs to him or her.  No ifs, buts.
 
This means you cannot make any copies of any photographs you receive without their permission.   This includes prints, but also computer copies, facebook profiles, anything.  You cannot reproduce any image without permission.

OK, declaration of interest up-front, I’m a wedding photographer.
Here’s the thing, you absolutely want to spend as much as possible on your photography  🙂
No really, and you want to spend more than most of you budget for as well.   The album will last forever, as will any additional prints you get.   The way you look at an album is completely different, you look at it more often (even after my 25 years) than video.

No.  I don’t think so, it seems oddly inappropriate to me, maybe it’s more an American thing.
 
Your photographer is in a bit of an odd position at  your wedding, I might be with you all day long, I’ve been involved in every event of the day, so it’s almost like I’m sharing your day, but at the same time I’m very clear – I am really “staff” not “guest”.
