Cat has been modelling for a while and I’ve had the pleasure of working with her on several occasions.

Cat is of course the featured girl in the Pose Book.

This session was put together with Lucy, her sister who is a qualified make-up artist.

Iona Fashion Shoot

Iona is a fashion designer who has a very interesting take on clothes.

These first items are really clever, they are multi-layered and seamless, so the legs become part of the shoulder straps

I really like these, I love the way the different colours of the “inside” and “outside” meet up and the clever way the parts come together.

The second item she designed after having her mobile phone stolen once too often. It features all sorts of internal pockets with different levels of security and accessibility.

Also the way the piece ties together makes it harder for pickpockets to get at the internal features. Though in fact the ways its designed, most would be theives would have no idea there was anything valueable there at all.

Feva, Dani & Me

This has always been one of my favourite images. I have it in the studio on a mega-large canvas print.

These images were from a shoot for Feva Design in Cheltenham, Steve Douch and Elliot did the make-up and hair styling respectively.

Dani Turner is the model – and she has a terrific smile.

I’ve worked with these guys a few times now, and it’s always a pleasure, some groups just naturally relax and work together and this is one of them.

One of the interesting problems with shooting really great clothes like these is making them stand-out. In particular this coat, which looks like leather but is actually a silk, it really needs a sense of motion to go with it.

Couple that with a bit of messing about and some fun and this is what you get!

Of course, it helps when you’re model is a complete Drama Queen !!!

I love the painterly effect on this image. Ms DeBauch has that sort of pin-up look about her and I wanted to echo the fifties painted pin-up style for her.

But of course one of the best things about working with a model like Anita is in their flexibility.

That they can change their style so easily and know how to work in a different set and lighting arrangement.

Because here she is looking completely different again.

Anita by the way is really working hard on the burlesque circuit, not to mention which she’s a very intelligent girl.

Deborah is a photographer, designer, jewelry maker and stylist all in her own right. I always enjoy working with Deborah because she brings such intelligence and understanding to our shoots.

She’s wonderfully flexible in style, capable of going from ditzy airhead roller-skater to elegant and sophisticated in a flick of an eye.

This is not the first time that Anita has appeared on the blog and I’m sure it won’t be the last.

In amongst some silly stuff we were doing we were both interested in creating a dark, moody and quasi-vintage look.

This suits Anita’s face and her natural temperament. Anita works hard on the burlesque circuit and has an amazing collection of vintage clothes.

Drown the Dress

Now you may have already seen the “Flash the Dress” where we set fire to the wedding dress with Lou.

Well, this one isn’t Lou’s wedding dress, its an old one from my props box, and in this sequence we drowned it!

This is before she went in, next up is while she’s in. By the way, the reason she isn’t smiling is (a) the water stinks and (b) we didn’t want smiley happy images, but instead something with a bit of mood to it.

This is the full “Ophelia” effect.

And this is what she looked like when she got out.

Now, I don’t want you to think that she wasn’t having fun, here’s one of the other pictures.

JD Couture – Fashion Shoot

My main forte as a photographer is fashion work and here we’ve got a combination of weddings and fashion together. This was a shoot to capture the collection of Julliette and Desdemona’s wedding couture.

I really like their dresses and so shooting them was very appealing to me. We had two wonderful models who had to play the whole Bride and Groom part, (something that can be a challenge for some models – but these two took it in their stride). We wanted to capture lovely happy faces as well as the romance of it all.

We were also shooting for Hatherley Manor, and the images are used in their brochures and web site.

Sessions like this are great fun, but also really hard work. Everyone needs good shots, but a good shot for the hotel ain’t necessarily what the dressmaker needs and vice-versa. Also, there’s lots of dress and suit changes going on here, each with a different styling, and getting in and out of wedding dresses can be a time consuming business.
